The Salt lake City or Bidhan Nagar is one of the developed
centres in the city of Kolkata. Salt Lake City is quite a large
township and sometimes stands as an independent city located within
Kolkata. Salt Lake City consists of a planned township with a number
of blocks. Salt Lake City was founded in the year 1962. The
government in the said year hired a Yugoslavian firm to fill in the
long existing swamps with the sand water. After a period of four

Cyclotron and S N Bose Institute are located in the premises of the
Salt Lake City.

Salt Lake City region. Accessibility to the region is provided
by the roadways. Nazrul Islam Avenue and Canal Road link it with
other Kolkata city premises. Buses and taxis are the easiest
modes f transportation.
- The Dum Dum Airport (International) lies to the north-west of
Salt Lake City and is about 4 kms far. Domestic airport,
however, lies to the south-east and is about 24 kms away from
the region.
